Putting lessons into practice for commercial cookery and hospitality students

Hospitality

The skills and theories students learn in their classes while studying the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (092306J) or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (092307G) are reinforced when they step into professional kitchens, where they put into practice what they’ve learnt.

For students studying Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, they learn hands-on experience in real workplace kitchens at the Perth Convention Centre and the University of Western Australia. For Certificate IV students, they gain a more in-depth understanding of kitchen management, finance management and team supervision. They are actively involved in the food preparation for important events and functions in Perth, including:

  • games, concerts and events catering at NIB stadium
  • meal preparation at Perth Zoo
  • the Food and Wine Show.

Diploma of Hospitality Management (090995F) students get a broad understanding of the industry and begin to explore, in substantial depth, the theoretical concepts relating to business operations, hospitality budgeting, workplace diversity, legal knowledge for business and service quality – plus more!
