Cambridge International College (CIC) hosted several visits from higher education providers, both local and international, at its Melbourne campus recently.
On 28 February, CIC hosted a delegation from Harbin Normal University, China, during their study tour in Australia. The delegation was led by the university’s Deputy Director, Professor Wei Jiao, and General Secretary, Junlon Fu. They were met by CIC Executive Dean, Dr Peter Cartwright, and Admissions and Academic Services Manager, Dr Grace Yan. The delegation did a tour of our campus before sitting down to discuss issues relating to cross-border education with Dr Cartwright and Dr Yan. At the end of the meeting, Professor Wei expressed his gratitude to CIC for hosting the delegation and invited CIC management to meet with him in Harbin, should the opportunity arise.
On 3 March, CIC hosted a series of workshops with two Australian higher education providers: Wentworth Institute of Sydney and the Melbourne-based Ozford Institute. Like CIC, these providers offer higher education qualifications to international students. The workshops discussed issues such as the use of rubrics in education, strategies for improving attendance and creating student-centred learning approaches. The academic staff from all three colleges enjoyed the opportunity to learn from each other and to discuss issues in common. The three institutions have a benchmarking agreement which allows them to share information about student performance and student outcomes with each other. While academic staff were involved in the workshops, management of the institutions were comparing outcomes and sharing ideas about campus management.
